Girl fun weekend!

I had my first visitor from the East Coast this weekend - one of my old neighbors - Renee came out for a fun weekend! She lucked out with the weather and we had some "no rain" days. We hit a few places on my PNW bucket list this weekend as well and had some amazing dinners out! Of course this all sounds pretty normal, but I haven't been out to dinner in quite awhile - so indulge me for a moment :)  We started on Friday at Mistral Kitchen and WOW is all I can say (and YUM too!)

Saturday was the ferry to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island and what a cute town. It reminded me of a quaint little town you would have seen in Maine or New England. Since it's off season it was even sleepier. We stayed at Friday Harbor House and lucked out with an amazing harbor view with door to terrace and chairs to just gaze and watch the ferries come and go. Saturday was a shopping and spa day!

Sunday was spent tooling around the island - it was so fun to see - at times I felt like I was in Scotland or Ireland - everything was so green (and cold and windy!)

We didn't see any marine wildlife, but saw many deer, a few eagles, horses, sheep, alpaca and a CAMEL named Mona (who thoroughly enjoyed the banana we fed her!) We tasted wine at San Juan vineyards, saw the lavender farms, and drove to Roche Harbor at the northwest tip of San Juan island.

Monday we took the morning ferry back to Anacortes and detoured through Skagit valley to find their world famous tulips. So amazing and beautiful!

Friday Harbor. Check
Skagit Valley. Check
Very fun times with friend. Check!
